Relocating to Mauritius from the USA
A safe, English-speaking island with residency for the whole family, freehold property and a credible business base — with clear-eyed advice on US tax.
Mauritius appeals to Americans seeking a safe, English-speaking base with a warm climate, freehold property ownership, international schools and residency for the whole family. It is a credible, well-regulated jurisdiction for business, and its lifestyle and cost of living compare favourably with much of the US.
One thing sets US citizens apart: the United States taxes its citizens on worldwide income regardless of where they live. Moving to Mauritius does not change that, so US clients should plan around it. We handle the Mauritian residency, property and corporate work, and coordinate with your US tax adviser so the two fit together.

Frequently asked
Will moving to Mauritius reduce my US taxes?
Not by itself. The US taxes citizens on worldwide income wherever they live, so relocation alone doesn't remove US filing or tax. Some tools (such as the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion or foreign tax credits) may help — that's a question for a US tax specialist, whom we're happy to work alongside.
Can Americans buy property and get residency?
Yes. US nationals can buy government-approved real estate, and a purchase at or above USD 375,000 confers residence for you and your dependants. We handle the legal due diligence and the residency together.
